Location

Bauhr Ranch is located on Historic Highway 49 just outside the town of Chinese Camp, CA. The Ranch’s location in the Gold Country makes for short and easy trips to other great Foothill towns and places like Yosemite,  Historic Jamestown, Sonora, Murphys and Columbia State Park. The ranch itself is 108 acres and is equipped with a covered arena, several round pens and trails for both horse and hikers. We’re also just a few miles from great trail riding & hiking both at Red Hills and Peoria Flat. The ranch is, of course, set up to accommodate Horse folks but anyone who wants to enjoy this area is welcome to stay here. We have room for campers & RV’s. They are welcome to use the bathrooms & showers as well as the outdoor kitchen.

For the Horse folks:
There’s plenty of room for small and large trailers. We have stalls and and pastures available for extended stays. A great trip might include riding the ranch one day then visiting a historic town the next day. Then the next day a short trip to Red Hills or Peoria for a ride. Staying as long as you like. Lessons with Steve can also be scheduled. Knowing your horses are safe while you see the sights allows for no worries.

Coming Spring 2022

Available this coming Spring 2022: We will have three small cabins that will accomodate up to ten people. These cabins will have a sink and power, bathroom and showers are steps away and an outdoor BBQ and eating area is available. The hostel-type setting requires folks to bring their own bedding, sleeping bags, etc.

The cabins are also available for a fun destination in which your horses are welcome to join you. Folks on their way to Yosemite, which is only 60 miles away, and the historic Rail Town 1897 State Park in Jamestown is just six miles away and loaded with good restaurants and a grocery store.

Artistic Hobby?

We have spoken with several art groups and photographers who plan to stay, since the area is rich with interesting history and architecture. This is still a working horse ranch! Artists can take advantage of not only the ranch but the horses in which to photo or paint.
